On September 26, at the forum “Building Bridges for Decent Work: Dialogues for Youth,” members of the Alliance for Youth with Decent Work, the Global Network of Youth Opportunity in Mexico City, Promotora Social México, and Co-investment for Decent Work brought together more than 70 representatives from various sectors, including youth, authorities, private sector leaders, international organizations, and allied organizations.
It was a space where the voices and demands of young people, expressed by the young people themselves, were put at the center; actions were articulated to ensure complete educational trajectories and decent jobs for millions of young people; a multi-actor and inter-institutional dialogue was opened to articulate joint actions within the framework of priority initiatives, such as Plan Mexico and National High School.
Through dialogue sessions, strategies were analyzed to link education with decent work and strengthen collaboration between sectors, the conclusions of which, outlined in strategic lines, were:
-
Revalue and update upper secondary education, with emphasis on technical education and dual models that guarantee professional practices and training experiences linked to employment.
-
Incorporate socio-emotional, digital, mental health, English and financial education skills into the training of young people, preparing them not only for work but for life.
-
Strengthen intersectoral collaboration, achieving agreements between CSOs, government, the private sector and international organizations with common objectives and indicators, as well as the creation of working groups to monitor commitments.
The participating organizations agreed that progress in these three strategic areas is fundamental to ensuring that millions of young people can exercise their rights to education and employment in decent conditions.
