My name is Dannae Hernández Reséndiz, I am 19 years old and I found out about the Young Community Builders, AC program through my family and also because I live here in the store and there they posted a poster and came up to talk to my mother, and I was interested in the program.

They told my mother that they were going to give us training for employment and in English. Then my mother told me about the training that had to do with restaurants and tourism, and since gastronomy caught my attention, that was what “pulled” me.

Before entering the program, Danna was a girl who was very insecure about herself, with many emotional problems and a very distrustful person.

Currently I am about to finish high school, I have a subject “stuck”, but next year, at the beginning of the following year, I am about to finish it.

I have 3 options to have a degree: one would be a Lawyer, the other is Accounting and the third would be Gastronomy.

Regardless of the degree, I would like to link my passion for gastronomy and in a few years I see myself channeling all that knowledge and potential into gastronomy and, mainly, it would be like in a restaurant, either working or, with the years in which I got to work, have my own and become known for gastronomy.

I like desserts. I have a very Mexican chef as a reference, he is chef José Becerra from MasterChef, he is my motivation

The love for gastronomy was born because I am a person who eats a lot. I like to eat and try. I started trying it because of the times I have gone with my family to my grandparents' towns and try the typical dishes; I really like sweet things and experiencing those types of flavors.

Now that the program is about to end, in these weeks that we have been here I already feel more confident. I feel that I can now be freer in expressing myself, I no longer keep my emotions so much to myself since we had a class, so to speak, on emotions where Arly, who was the support educator we had, told us that there were not only certain types of emotions and we couldn't reflect many more, and, well, I already feel better.

What I liked most about the program was learning to live together more and not only lock myself in the same social circle but open up more.

My family sees me as more secure, happier, they no longer see me as down because of school, they feel me stronger in myself.

Among my earliest future goals is to finish the program, the main one, finishing now, being able to have my high school certificate at the campus 11 high school, would be like my most marked goals.

Before being on the program the word that described me was insecure and now in these two weeks it has changed to Strong!

It is a free and accessible digital platform that serves as an information and collaboration tool between youth and institutions for employability in CDMX
