The National Monte de Piedad IAP and Fundación Coppel renew their alliance to support 38 civil society organizations with the second edition of the joint venture they have developed to promote decent work and care for various segments of the population in 19 states of the country. The objective is to reduce the problem of the lack of decent employment, particularly that focused on young people and people with disabilities.
Currently, in Mexico there are approximately 31.5 million young people between 15 and 29 years old, a figure that is equivalent to 251% of the economically active population. Of this number, 5.2 million - of which 821% are women - neither study nor work; 8.4 million are in precarious working conditions and 3.9 million study, but live in poverty, according to information from the Alliance for Young People with Decent Work.
Sustainable development in Mexico requires collaborative efforts
The participation of actors representing different sectors of society, such as Nacional Monte de Piedad IAP, Fundación Coppel and 38 civil society organizations, is essential to build and offer sustainable solutions that generate positive and lasting changes in the life, educational and work trajectories of the so-called “Opportunity Youth.”
The selection of the organizations that have received support was carried out through a design evaluation and different programs were selected that will improve the employability of around 12,828 “Opportunity Youth”, women and men between 15 and 29 years old in multiple situations of vulnerability, such as truncated education, disability, or low levels of job insertion, as well as precarious employment conditions.
The selected initiatives focus on implementing actions aimed at developing skills for life, work and entrepreneurship, as well as job placement, with the aim of enabling them to access and remain in decent employment or self-employment.
The 19 states in which young people and people with disabilities will receive support are: Baja California, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Mexico City, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacan, Nuevo Leon, Oaxaca, Puebla, Queretaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosi, Sinaloa, Tlaxcala and Yucatan.
The programmes presented will be implemented within a maximum period of 12 months and will be subject to different success indicators, in order to measure the impact they had on the target population.
