“When we all raise our voices,
The city listens and changes with us.

— inspired by Inti-Illimani

A story of participation

Mexico City has always been a territory of participation and transformation. From student and union struggles, through the solidarity that emerged after the earthquakes of 1985 and 2017, to the citizen consultation of 1993 that paved the way for the democratic election of the head of government.

Today, that same spirit still beats. It is expressed in the forums and consultations of General Development Plan 2025-2045 (CDMX), spaces that seek to listen to all voices, but especially to young people, who represent more than 26% of the population.

Because the city is not only inhabited: it is also built. And young people are at the heart of that construction.

Youth with voice, ideas and action

From the Global Opportunity Youth Network (GOYN) In Mexico City, a clear proposal emerges:Youth Opportunity: Education and Decent Work”.

It's not just a document. It's an agenda built from the experience, real needs, and future vision of thousands of young people who want opportunities, but also dignity.

10 commitments to change course

Young people don't just participate: they propose. These are the commitments that chart the course:

  1. Education that connects with work: useful, practical training with paid experiences.

  2. End to job insecurity: jobs with fair wages, social security and rights.

  3. A true school-work bridge: programs that truly facilitate the transition to employment.

  4. Boosting youth entrepreneurship: more support and funding for projects and cooperatives.

  5. Care system: recognizing, redistributing and supporting care work.

  6. Equality and diversity: real opportunities for young women and LGBT+ youth.

  7. Inclusion without barriers: access for young migrants and indigenous people.

  8. Decent work for young people with disabilities: suitable conditions and relevant training.

  9. Green and digital economy: jobs in sustainable and technological sectors.

  10. Permanent participation: young people involved in decision-making and monitoring of public policies.

Towards a city with a future

These proposals don't just reflect ideas: they reflect energy, creativity, and commitment. They are proof that young people aren't waiting their turn; they are already taking their place.

Incorporating them into the General Development Plan is not just a good decision: it is a commitment to a fairer, more inclusive and sustainable city.

Because when young people participate, the city changes.

And when the city changes, the possibility of a dignified life for everyone opens up.

It is a free and accessible digital platform that serves as an information and collaboration tool between youth and institutions for employability in CDMX
