Mónica holds a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Latin American Studies from UNAM. She has more than 30 years of experience in social issues in various Latin American countries. She is an expert in gender and migration and has authored research on the incorporation of a gender perspective into institutional culture, as well as studies focused on the feminization of migration. She has collaborated in governmental and non-governmental spheres, both nationally and internationally, with organizations such as the National Institute for Women; Oxfam Great Britain; UN Women; Social Impact (an international development consultancy); the United Nations Development Programme (UNRISD); Preferred by Nature (a Danish organization); and FLACSO Ecuador.
