Following the public presentation of the public policy agenda for employability, education linked to decent work and opportunity youth entrepreneurship in Mexico City on April 3, 2024, the Youth Advisory Group (GAJ) and the Advocacy of GOYN, the Young People with Decent Work Alliance and the JuventudES Platform we met with the campaign teams of the three candidates for the Head of Government of Mexico City in an exercise of plurality and open and respectful dialogue.

In a collaborative advocacy exercise with the Citizen Initiative for the Promotion of the Culture of Dialogue, YouthBuild México and Citizen Action against Poverty, we set four objectives:

1. Open spaces for dialogue between the three parties and representatives of the GOYN Mexico City Youth Advisory Group.

2. Position the young opportunity narrative in the campaign teams of the three parties.

3. Incorporate the main recommendations of the public policy agenda regarding a comprehensive public care system, a comprehensive employability policy for opportunity youth, and a policy of upper secondary education and alternatives for opportunity youth of legal age.

4. Install a monitoring mechanism for dialogue and agreement between each political party and the GOYN advocacy committee after the elections on Sunday, June 2.

This is how we promoted a series of spaces for dialogue and collaboration with the three campaign teams in the electoral contest for the Head of Government of Mexico City, with the purpose of consolidating public policies aimed at young people, opportunity in government programs. for Mexico City.

The first meeting, held on April 29, 2024, we spoke with the construction team of the “Project of Change” of the “Va x la CDMX” Coalition, made up of the National Action Party (PAN), the Institutional Revolutionary Party ( PRI) and the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD). During this meeting, we presented concrete proposals in key areas such as the public care system, comprehensive employability policy and a policy for higher secondary education and alternatives. As a result, the inclusion of the positive definition and proposals of young opportunity in the government program of candidate Santiago Taboada was confirmed, in addition to establishing a monitoring mechanism through Senator Emilio Álvarez Icaza.

Subsequently, on May 6, a meeting was held with the advisor for the development of the Project for Mexico City of the Coalition “Let's continue making history in Mexico City”, made up of the National Regeneration Movement party (Morena ), the Labor Party (PT) and the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM), where a detailed dialogue was opened on the proposals presented by the GAJ.

The incorporation of the perspective of youth rights in the government program of the candidate Clara Brugada was highlighted, and it was suggested to delve into the proposals for homeless youth and the right of young people to decent housing. Likewise, a monitoring mechanism was established through the Mtro. Pablo Yanes.

Finally, on May 9, a meeting was held at the Casa Naranja de Movimiento Ciudadano. The inclusion of the perspective of youth rights and the participation of civil society in the government program of candidate Salomón Chertorivski was highlighted. The GOYN network and the Young People with Decent Work Alliance were invited to participate in the Consultative Council of Social Movements and Civil Society Organizations of the Citizen Movement, thus consolidating a space for collaboration and dialogue through the Dip. Royfid Torres and Alejandro Piña Medina.

“My experience participating in bilateral dialogues was gratifying. Going from giving my testimony to becoming an actor of change has been significant. Being at the center of dialogues and political negotiations, sharing our collective proposals on employability, fills me with enthusiasm and makes me feel an active part of the process. It is inspiring to see that the youth were not only present, but also led this important process.” Atena C. Rodríguez, GAJ CDMX.

“Being part of the process and implementation is wonderful. Seeing the change in narrative beyond my experience and my story, now as an actor to generate change at an individual and collective level, is new, scary and imposing. However, you have to believe it. Throughout the entire process I was accompanied by the GOYN team, which created a safe space to empower me as a new agent. Every step we achieve, every space we open will impact for the benefit of youth in the future. As young people we need perseverance, effort and collaborative sum for a greater impact.” Moisés García, GAJ CDMX.

By presenting these proposals, we empower ourselves even more as an agent of change, an active participant in the construction of our present as youth. Contributing to creating opportunities, an environment conducive to our comprehensive development, personal and professional fulfillment.

In summary, these meetings represent a significant step towards governance and the construction of inclusive public policies oriented to the needs of Mexican youth, evidencing a commitment on the part of different political actors in the search for concrete and effective solutions for this sector of the population.

It is a free and accessible digital platform that serves as an information and collaboration tool between youth and institutions for employability in CDMX
