of Youth:

In Mexico and much of the world, children, adolescents, and young people are generally referred to as the country's future generation. At Iniciativa Ciudadana, we believe that THE YOUTH They are not only the future, but THEY ARE THE PRESENT.

Society is constantly discussing this segment of the population, and even progress is gradual in its efforts to improve their environment and reality. A large part of this is due to the fact that discourse, public policies, and actions in various areas that affect them are formulated from the perspective of adults.

One explanation for the above is that the notion of youth refers to a diversity of particularities with a nuance of heterogeneity and problems that are inherent to it, to the extent that it has required being considered as a specific object of analysis by the social sciences in Mexico.

With this framework and before the upcoming celebration of the International Year of Youth, The topic of youth should gain greater relevance on the agendas of governments, academia, and civil society organizations, necessarily moving beyond theoretical outlines to formulas that, in practice, respond to the current expectations of young people.

Within this commemoration, it is necessary to recognize once again that in In Mexico there is no single type of youthAbove all, with 37.5 million members of this population group in the country, the diversity is enormous, which is why the government, institutions, experts, and organizations working on behalf of youth are obligated to listen to their needs firsthand.

Thus, we must start from a recognition that the current outlook facing youth in Mexico is discouraging, with a context perhaps the most adverse in the country's history, due to the lack of employment opportunities, access to education and social security, among other factors.

It should also be considered that The current generation of Mexican youth is the most significant in the country's economic, political and social history., and which is shaping up to be the one that will play a fundamental role in the nation's immediate future. This is a compelling reason why it should not be wasted. the potential of youth, generating opportunities for growth and prosperity, with the aim of ensuring that they do not continue to be actors in a social problem that necessarily requires public intervention to solve it, since currently a large part of young people live in conditions that prevent them from fully enjoying their rights, which, consequently, impacts the growth of the country, of society, and the development of their quality of life in dignified conditions.

In this context, government actions can gradually abandon assistance measures and, instead, begin to make progress on the multiplicity of issues specific to youth, with a rights-based approach that responds to youth's demand for their comprehensive development to be guaranteed in key areas, such as their right to peace, non-discrimination, gender equality, justice in all its dimensions, the right to greater political participation and public affairs, education, decent work, quality healthcare, social protection, and development in accordance with their circumstances.

Young people are key to the country's economic, political, social, and cultural development; their voices must be included in decisions that affect them.

In the Citizen Initiative for the Promotion of the Culture of Dialogue we open this new space with the purpose of giving the perspective of youth and that of civil organizations to make visible collaborative processes and the construction of innovative experiences where youth cease to be objects and become subjects of their own self-development.

In this space, we will share various networking efforts, articles, and initiatives to bring the youth agenda to the forefront. We trust that the platform will serve as a tool for sharing information, reflections, and documents on the employability of decent work for youth, and above all, that it will provide visibility to the different collaborative processes with other organizations interested in addressing the different projects in Mexico City.

It is a free and accessible digital platform that serves as an information and collaboration tool between youth and institutions for employability in CDMX
