Did you know that 306 youth groups were found in Barranquilla? Yes, through a mapping project carried out by the Nuestra Barranquilla initiative, 306 groups were found located in different districts, working for the growth and development of their communities.<\/p>\n

Barranquilla, a city renowned for its culture, vibrancy, and entrepreneurial spirit, has much more to offer. Beyond all the city's iconic landmarks, there is a generation of young people constantly working to build a better society, driving social, environmental, cultural, educational, and community projects that are beginning to generate positive changes in their communities through their youthful leadership.<\/p>\n

Currently, young people in Barranquilla are part of or actively participate in foundations, community groups, student organizations, initiatives, collectives, and leadership programs that seek to improve the quality of life of their peers, various people in their communities, and Barranquilla in general. It can be said that the new generations are working for their city, contributing innovative ideas and projects.<\/p>\n

But it's not all smooth sailing, because despite their commitment, these young people face various challenges and barriers, such as a lack of resources and violence, among others. However, these challenges and barriers haven't stopped them from continuing to work towards their goals and for the well-being of their communities. Therefore, they devise different ways to raise funds, such as recreational activities, raffles, and sales of food, clothing, and jewelry, as well as submitting their projects to fundraising events to bring them to fruition.<\/p>\n

Through their leadership, young people are strengthening the social fabric of the city, where they actively participate, generate new ideas, promote inclusion, and create innovative solutions to local problems.<\/p>\n

In Barranquilla, we need more young people with the desire, the need, and the commitment to the development of their communities, the environment, education, and the creation of safe spaces for themselves and their community, with the goal of closing the gaps of insecurity and disconnection in the city. Therefore, it is important to promote training opportunities, such as workshops and diploma programs, where young people can develop their skills and become leaders equipped to face the challenges of the future.<\/p>\n

I can confidently say that the city's youth represent a transformative force for the diverse communities of Barranquilla. Their energy and creativity enable them to generate significant changes within their communities, demonstrating their ability to lead and participate in city-building initiatives, contributing to the growth and development of a more participatory, inclusive Barranquilla, full of opportunities for all.<\/p>\n

I conclude by saying that I am proud to be part of these young leaders who are building and driving the social transformation of Barranquilla.
